The CE Marking is a conformity marking indicating that the product conforms to all relevant European health, safety, public health, consumer protection and environmental protection legislation.

CE is an abbreviation for 'Conformité Européenné' , French for 'European Conformity'

The standard for CE relating to the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) was established by the European Economic Community (EEC) Council Directive: 89/336/EEC on May 8, 1989 and become obligatory on January 1, 1996.

The EMC directive defines the protection requirements and inspection procedures for all apparatus liable to cause electromagnetic disturbance or the performance of which is liable to be affected by such disturbances.
